A SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE WHITE CHOCOLATE
At República del Cacao, we make chocolate that tastes good and does good.
In 2016 we started a long-term collaboration for the development of Turucucho, the Andean community responsible for producing the milk used in our Ecuador White Chocolate 31%.
Turucucho which accounts for 50 farms and around 500 cows, is located at 3 300m in the Andes Mountains, near Quito. The farmers do the milking by hand, keep the cows free of antibiotics and hormones and let them range freely over the grass.
We have joined forces with our supplier El Ordeño/AGSO and a team of New Zealand experts from DairySolutionz in order to increase the community’s milk productivity. This project seeks to respond to the farmers´ technical and economic necessities by providing them with adequate and cost-effective methods to plant long-standing and quality pastures. We wish to limit pressures on the environment, provide healthy feed for the animals, reduce production costs and ultimately increase milk productivity in the community of Turucucho.
We aim to produce a socially responsible white chocolate that has a positive impact on the community that makes it.
Our #COWmmunity campaign supports the farmers and cows of Turucucho. Grass has never been so important and white chocolate has never been so responsible!
